GeoPortal Utility Services

 

The GeoPortal Utility provides three main services:

1. Access to Comprehensive Mapping
Using DMTI’s map data and high resolution imagery, the GeoPortal Utility provides you with easy access to mapping for any location in Ontario – at any scale and dynamically generated from spatial data.

2. Proven Technologies
GeoViewer and DataViewer are two of several applications and technologies that comprise the GeoPortal. We work with your IT department to set up the security and administration tools so that the GeoPortal is ready for your use.

3. Support Services
Before you take full advantage of the GeoPortal Utility, we will work with you to generate your asset mapping that is needed to best represent your clients, properties, or whatever assets you manage. We will also help you link these to your business systems and corporate databases. And we will help you set up the access privileges and security so that your users only see the information they need. Specifically, we:

Create “asset maps” from your key business data – which might include client locations, buildings, points of interest, zones – and integrate these with the GeoPortal’s existing maps. These “maps” then become the index onto your business information.

Build a client-specific GeoDB and host it on our GeoPortal Utility web servers. This would include your “asset maps” as well as all other spatial layers that you want to access.

Install and configure the DataViewer application in your IT environment.

Register the business data from whatever systems you want to publish. Because the data stay in your business applications, the GeoPortal only points to the source and reads them.

Set up a security system to control who gets to see what through GeoViewer and DataViewer.

Provide targeted training to get your organization up and running quickly. Your IT staff also get detailed training in system set-up, management and security, as well as how to leverage GeoPortal to geo-enable existing business applications.

Build custom tools and products that streamline the integration of all client systems with the GeoPortal.

Provide technical support during normal business hours through email and telephone access to SKE’s technical support personnel.

Provide secure reliable hosting of the geodatabase and our utility web map services.
